After months of waiting, Larian Studios has officially announced that the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to arrive on April 15. To celebrate the game’s last major patch, the team is also hosting a special livestream on their Twitch channel on April 16 at 1 PM UTC. The show will be hosted by Aoife Wilson and will feature a guest appearance from Senior Systems Designer Ross Stephens, where they will be taking a closer look at everything new in Patch 8.
For those out of the loop, Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 is all set to bring a massive amount of content to the game in the form of 12 different subclasses, one for each of the main classes. Each comes with unique abilities, animations, and skills. So even if you’ve already 100% completed Baldur’s Gate 3, this update is definitely going to pull players back in for one last playthrough. Patch 8 also brings a much-requested photo mode to the game.
Patch 8 is a big update for modders
And that’s not the only way Patch 8 is expanding the game. As highlighted by Baldur’s Gate 3 content creator Jay Dunna, this update is also going to be a big deal for modders. The creator believes that the advent of Patch 8 means “mods can finally start to unleash their full potential.” Instead of having to worry about their mods breaking with every meaningful update from Larian, modders will now have the stability they’ve been waiting for, as Patch 8 is expected to be the last major update with Larian shifting its focus to other projects.

That said, we are not sure exactly when on April 15th the update goes live, as the studio has only given us the date and not the exact time. But nonetheless, once it arrives, fans can expect a wave of new content that’s been many months in the making.
When does the Patch 8 launch stream start?
Although we may not have a release time when you’ll be able to download the patch, we do know when the launch stream will be going live.
