The first Prime Day of the year has been and gone, but Amazon’s fall event: Prime Big Deal Days, provides a second great second chance to snag a GPU at a steep discount. Although there are many other components you need to consider in a PC build, the graphics card remains the most important part of any gaming rig and up there with the CPU for any creative/workstation setup. Whether you be putting together an Nvidia GeForce, AMD Radeon, or Intel Arc build, we’ve got you covered (though if you’re having second thoughts, do also take a look at our Prime Day computer deals hub for prebuilt PCs).

This year we expect to see offers on the latest Nvidia 50-series cards, from the most high-end GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs (ideal for uncompromised 4K gaming), to the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti (best suited for high-performance 1440p/1600p resolution gaming) to the more entry-level RTX 5060. Nvidia 40-series cards will also be on offer, although the discounts on older-gen GPUs aren’t always as big as you might imagine. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, RX 9060 XT, and RX 9060 are also great options if you don’t care about Ray-Tracing and are looking for something that offers better value for money in FPS-per-dollar terms.

We’ll be listing the finest deals below, meaning you won’t need to trawl through Amazon yourself to find them. We’ll also be discussing some particular cards to watch out for, what specs actually matter for your setup, and how long the best offers typically last.

Things to consider when finding the best GPU Prime Day deals

  • Scan customer reviews for real-world takes on how the GPU performs. Don’t just look at the ‘star score’ – check how many ratings there are to gauge confidence.
  • Compare your chosen GPU across multiple retailers; sometimes a lower list price is offset by higher shipping, so calculate the full cost before you buy.
  • Read the return policy carefully so you’re covered if the GPU doesn’t work as expected or isn’t compatible with your setup.

What to look for in a GPU

  • Target resolution & refresh rate: Match the card to your monitor – broadly speaking, 1080p resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate is an entry-level gaming monitor, 1440p with a 144Hz-240Hz refresh rate puts you in the mid-to-upper tier; native 4K at 120Hz or higher is the high end, and will require the most powerful GPU to run. Ultrawide monitors will also require a lot of processing power at those higher refresh rates.
  • VRAM & memory bus: 12-16GB is the bracket you should aim for today for gaming; creators and heavy modders may want more.
  • Upscaling & frame tech: Modern titles lean on DLSS/FSR/XeSS – check the games you play and favor a card with the feature set you’ll actually use.
  • Display outputs: Are you going to be running a 4K or ultra-wide monitor with a higher refresh rate? Favor graphics cards (and monitors) with DisplayPort 2.1 for higher bandwidth modes.
  • Power & connectors: Newer high-end cards use the 12V-2×6 standard (the successor to 12VHPWR). Make sure your PSU and cables are up to date.
  • Size & cooling: Triple-slot coolers and >300 mm lengths are common at the top end of graphics cards, so make sure you measure your case beforehand to ensure your  card will fit.
  • Streaming & creator features: If you record in OBS or edit video, note that GeForce RTX 50-series NVENC improves AV1 quality/efficiency vs last gen – handy for cleaner streams at the same bitrate.

How long will Prime Day GPU deals last?

For October’s Prime Day event (aka the Prime Big Deal Days sale), the period itself runs from October 7th-8th, 2025, although we’ve seen many early deals go live before then. Historically, some offers do linger after the sale ends, but the best GPU prices and bundles tend to appear during the core 48 hours – so build your shortlist ahead of time and pounce when the price hits your target. Also be aware that some deals might end before the 8th, if stock of that particular product runs out, or if it is a Lightning Deal that is only available for a very short time.

Final word

So, to summarize, if you’re chasing 4K with ray tracing, prioritize RTX 5080/5090 or RTX 4080/4090 drops. For the best value at 1440p, aim for RTX 5070 or RX 9060/9070 price cuts, and don’t ignore last-gen bargains if the discount is meaningful. Gamers who prioritize a high-refresh rate should watch for DP 2.1-ready cards to pair with next-gen monitors. Happy hunting!
