Superman 5-Film 4K Steelbook Collection Preorders Restocked At Amazon

Everyone has their favorite Superman, and for many fans of the iconic comic book character, it’s still hard to beat Christopher Reeve’s take on the Man of Steel. The movie legend left his mark on the franchise across four films, and if you want to revisit them, Amazon is releasing a new–and exclusive–Superman 5-Film Steelbook Library Collection on September 2. Preorders for the $130 collector’s set quickly sold out after opening on July 22, but it’s back in stock as of August 10.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of The Dark Knight Trilogy Steelbook Library Collection. This Amazon-exclusive box set was revealed shortly after the Superman box set and sold out even faster. We have seen a couple of brief restocks, but it remains out of stock as of August 10.

Superman Five-Film Collector’s Edition

One thing to note here is that you’re getting two versions of Superman 2 in this collection. There’s a long story here that boils down to creative differences and concerns over the budget, which eventually resulted in Superman director Richard Donner being removed from the sequel and replaced with Richard Lester. Donner’s version was released decades later, and it’s generally considered to be the best version of Superman 2 as it adds more nuance and substance to the story.

Along with the five films on 4K Blu-ray in native 4K resolution with HDR10 and several audio formats–Dolby Atmos, TrueHD 7.1, Master Audio 2.0–the 10-disc collection comes with a wealth of bonus features. All of the bonus features are found on the 1080p Blu-ray discs for each film. You’ll get documentaries, commentaries, TV specials, and more. We’ve included the full list of bonus features at the bottom of this article.

The Superman 5-Film Collection is also available in a standard set for $75. You won’t get fancy steelbook cases or a collector’s tin, but it still comes with 4K and 1080p editions of the same films as well as the special features.

These Superman films aren’t always easy to find on 4K Blu-ray on their own. At the moment, Superman ’78 is the only one in stock at Amazon. It’s available for only $15 (was $34), though.

You can pair this with the new Superman movie that’s available for preorder, as not only is it a fun film that lives up to the legacy of the character, but the steelbook version matches the Reeve collections perfectly. At the time of writing, the Steelbook Edition is sold out, but it’ll likely come back before launch.
