The RTX 5080 Super / ti rumour is becoming more insistent

Earlier this month we told you about the potential arrival of a refresh on certain RTX 50s. The RTX 5080 was one of the favourites, as the performance gap with the RTX 5090 is significant. What was just a rumour is now gaining momentum. Now it’s the turn of reliable leaker kopite7kimi to claim that the GeForce RTX 5080 Super is not only real, but could well be one of the first new products in the range very soon. For him, memory could be the only new feature on this future 5080. According to his sources, the card will retain the same GB203 GPU, which is already at maximum capacity on the current RTX 5080. Apart from the refinement of the new chips and a possible increase in performance, this leaves little room for further modifications.

RTX 5080 Super / Ti: Same more mature GDDR7-boosted GPU?

But with a more mature chip and boosted ram, the card could be interesting. With 24GB of VRAM, the new 5080 represents a clear improvement on the 16GB of the current version. Finally, the leaker understands that the new 3GB GDDR7 modules could push the limits up to 32 Gbit/s of bandwidth on a 256-bit bus. When you consider that most of the raw performance gains of the RTX 50s come from GDDR7, this is a promising piece of information.

Of course, between the faster memory and the higher GPU frequencies, the card’s power consumption would rise from 360W to 400W. Now there are the questions of when and how much. Nvidia would be tempted to launch this card quickly, before the end of 2025. A first for a resfresh / RTX Super… unless this new reference is called 5080 Ti. Finally, there’s the price, and we’re pretty sure there won’t be any miracles. Given the lack of competition in the high-end market, Nvidia has no reason to make any particular effort. Would the Greens like to restore their reputation a little? An aggressive 5080 Super / Ti would mean cutting back on part of the range… Hardly an option.
