The next chapter of Warframe is coming, and it’s taking players across the stars to Tau.

The Old Peace will be Warframe’s year-end update. Developer Digital Extremes revealed limited but exciting details about the story at its annual TennoCon event.

The expansion will take players to Tau, a distant star system that is the holy grail of Warframe lore. A failed attempt to reach Tau is the backbone of Warframe’s expansive, operatic narrative. But the developers didn’t reveal where in that narrative The Old Peace takes place.

The trailer seems to show the player’s Operator character, accompanied by Loid and the Lotus, undergoing some kind of experiment to access memories of Tau. We see them playing with a childhood Sentient friend, Adis, before a rebellion on one of Tau’s moons throws this happy memory into chaos.

None of that make sense? Well, don’t worry because there’s never been a better time to start playing Warframe. In addition to this new narrative chapter, which will be released in late 2025, Digital Extremes also said that their fall update will feature a new quest called “The Teacher,” developed with Sumo Digital, which will provide another way for players to learn about modding, one of Warframe’s most important (and least-explained) systems.

As part of The Old Peace, Digital Extremes will also debut a new Warframe, Uriel, and a standalone quest about “the Devil’s Triad” of Uriel and new Protoframes of Harrow and Wisp. More information about Warframe’s future will be announced during Digital Extremes’ October devstream.
