Finding Grounded 2‘s sturdy quartzite locations is something you can safely ignore until you start reaching the end of the initial version’s story. It’s not an item you can do much with at present. However, you’ll need plenty of it for future updates, and there aren’t many nodes to harvest it from.

Below, we explain where to find sturdy quartzite in Grounded 2 and what it’s meant for.

Where to find sturdy quartzite in Grounded 2

We’ve found a handful of sturdy quartzite locations in Grounded 2, most of which are tucked away underground in tunnels behind roots that your buggy needs to clear and guarded by the Masked Stranger’s bug soldiers, larva, or scorpions. There’s also a roach in the cave near the soda can, but if you don’t attack it, it’ll leave you alone.

  • The cave east of the soda can in the Fire Pit region
  • A cave in Grass Games, west of the steps leading to the Statue
  • A cave in the Ceremony region, east of the podium
  • Next to the giant rock in the center of the Ceremony region, north of the upturned terrarium where a wolf spider roams
  • In the northern Snackbar region

All of those caves have cracked walls blocking your progress deeper in, so you’ll need bratburst bombs to break the walls if you want to explore the whole area. We found quartzite nodes near the entrances of the Ceremony and Fire Pit caves, unblocked by stone walls, but not in the Grass Games tunnel. That could’ve just been a glitch, but if you’re headed there, it’s best to have a few bratburst bombs on hand.

Busting up a sturdy quartzite node also gives you a few pieces of brittle quartzite, so it’s a handy two-in-one deal. You need the tier-two upgrade for the Omni-Tool’s hammer to break it, though, which requires lingonberry leather and a ladybug head.

What is sturdy quartzite used for in Grounded 2?

Sturdy quartzite upgrades your weapons once you max them out with brittle whetstone enhancements — or it will eventually, according to some in-game flavor text. Like other high-level crafting items such as pinecone pieces, Grounded 2‘s initial early access version doesn’t actually let you turn sturdy quartzite into anything yet. It’s still worth seeking these locations out and storing up as much as you can, though, just to have a head start when future updates introduce higher-tier weapon upgrades. Plus, it’s a sweet way to get some extra brittle quartzite for the initial round of weapon upgrades you need.
